Board of Trustees confirms incumbent
Thomas F. Hofmann re-elected President of TUM

According to independent international rankings, TUM is the best university in Germany and even the EU. With numerous structural reforms, Hofmann has driven the development of TUM into a leading entrepreneurial and international university. For this, he was named University Manager of the Year 2023 by an expert jury commissioned by the weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT and the CHE - Center for Higher Education Development.
The re-elected President Hofmann emphasizes: "I would like to thank the colleagues, employees, students, partners, and friends of our university for all their active support and fruitful cooperation over the past six years. I look forward with joy and humility to the tasks ahead of us in times of great change. To be able to contribute to the future-oriented education of the next generation, to the creation of new knowledge and trustworthy innovation for the benefit of our country, is an honorable and responsible task. It is a privilege, and I look forward to it."

Hofmann has been a professor at TUM since 2007, was Vice President for Research and Innovation (2009-2019) and Acting President since 2019. He has played a leading role in driving the introduction of the TUM Tenure Track appointment and career system, the TUM Schools, the TUM Venture Labs, and the TUM Sustainable Futures Strategy. With the robust expansion in artificial intelligence and technology-related social sciences, he has contributed to aligning the university with human-centered, trustworthy innovations. With the ONE MUNICH strategy and global flagship partnerships, he has strengthened the innovative power of the Munich metropolis and connected it with leading scientific and business institutions worldwide.
