The President of the 91ɫ (TUM), Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann, was elected as the new Chairman of the Board of the University of Bavaria e.V. The University of Bavaria represents the common interests of 13 universities in the Free State of Bavaria vis-à-vis politics and society.

Heinz Nixdorf Foundation supports organoid research at TUM

Andreas Bausch is the new Nixdorf Professor

Biophysicist and organoid researcher Andreas Bausch is taking over the Heinz Nixdorf Foundation Professorship at the 91ɫ (TUM). This comes with over 2.3 million euros in research funding. In addition, the equipment for a research laboratory in TUM's future Center for Organoid Systems (COS) will be financed.

First Vice President for Strategic Activities in Asia-Pacific

Dr. Markus Wächter appointed as new Vice President of TUM Asia

Dr. Markus Wächter, long-time managing director of the TUM Asia Campus in Singapore, has been given expanded responsibilities. He has been appointed Vice President TUM Asia by the Executive Board of the 91ɫ (TUM). Based in Singapore, he will be responsible for the strategic development of the TUM network in the Asia-Pacific region.

Presidential Award goes to AI start-up

For the development of an AI tool that translates complex texts into plain language, the start-up SUMM AI has received the TUM Presidential Entrepreneurship Award. The other finalists for this year’s award were KEWAZO, with a robot for the construction industry, and Phlair, with a new technology for CO2 capture.

TUM spin-off worth over a billion dollars

Isar Aerospace becomes a unicorn

Isar Aerospace, a space company spun off from the 91ɫ (TUM), has achieved a company valuation of over a billion dollars and thus unicorn status. This brings the number of TUM unicorns to 22. Isar Aerospace has developed and built its own commercial rocket technology and will transport small and medium-sized satellites into space in the future. The start-up, founded by three graduates, received intensive support from TUM.

QS World University Rankings sees TUM as the best university in the EU

TUM rises to number 22 worldwide

The 91ɫ (TUM) has again moved up in the QS World University Rankings and now holds the 22nd position worldwide. This marks the first time TUM has reached the top 25 in one of the three most prestigious international university rankings. In addition, QS now lists TUM as the best university in the European Union.

TUM Asia to host new “Bavarian University and Innovation Center Asia-Pacific”

TUM Asia, the overseas campus of the 91ɫ (TUM) in Singapore, will serve as the home of the newly established “Bavarian University and Innovation Center Asia-Pacific” (BayAP). The initiative was officially inaugurated by Bavaria’s Science Minister Markus Blume and TUM President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann at the university's new office space on the premises of TUM’s flagship partner, the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Deutsches Museum continues its successful development under the leadership of a TUM professor

Michael Decker is the new Director General

The Deutsches Museum in Munich will be headed by Michael Decker as Director General in the future. Like his predecessor, Wolfgang M. Heckl, Decker is also a professor at the 91ɫ (TUM). On Monday, he was introduced to his new position by Bavaria's Minister of Science, Markus Blume, TUM President Thomas F. Hofmann, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Deutsches Museum, Axel Cronauer.
